While inside the house I am packing, outside dozens of Waxwings are waiting for their turn at the Holly bush. How do they know whose turn it is? They are organized, systematic and move quickly on when their work here is done. I think I could use some lessons.

The road is beginning to look like a road.

Now that the trees have been cleared, the site for the house is looking more like a yard. Above the site a long ditch has been dug to let water continue to flow without affecting the yard. If you say yard enough it really helps.

Ferns grow everywhere in my yard (said it again).

April 17

The day was marked in the only way it should be for a 10 year old boy. A few friends and Star Wars...lots of Star Wars. From the preparations for a Jedi training obstacle course to the movie watching while tucked into bed, these boys were all about Star Wars. It was, absolutely, a celebration not to be soon forgotten.

TEN YEARS!

Happy Birthday Joseph!

This is just the beginning.

We know this is the place for us.

Our first meal. Each of us trying to imagine what adventures are waiting.

First, there is work to be done, trees to come down to make room for a house and wood to be piled.

There was still time for a little adventure and the discovery of a tiny salamander deep in the woods. We will watch him for a while and then take him back to his home.

Spring Rescue

It is important to mark the beginning of Spring with an event. So when the neighbour's new kitten climbs a tree it's time to call in the fire department. I've always enjoyed what a small town has to offer and this is one more thing to add to the list. A volunteer fire department that takes all calls seriously.

And when a ladder and plenty of help is unable to accomplish the task..

..well bring in the LADDER truck.

One kitten rescued.

Adam and Audrey

This past month (March..ahem), found everyone enjoying the last of the snowy days in different ways. Audrey was ready for the snow to be GONE and so she spent many days snug inside working on a variety of projects.

Oscar received a one of a kind needle felted cat toy...

and Doris was given a new bed.

Adam waited patiently..well..not sooo patiently for his parcel to arrive. New snowboard wax. That couldn't possibly be a cat on the table. Not in my house. Not on my table. Yikes.

Can you believe that one of the most important snowboarding lessons is to learn how to iron. What a perk!

And so one more winter has come and gone. Thoroughly enjoyed but hardly documented. Ah well, spring is a time for new beginnings.
